Uzair Rehman

Currently working on low-alloyed steels with a focus on the effect of vanadium on the micro-structure and mechanical properties of these steels. My work revolves around the sample preparation of steel samples for different characterization techniques like SEM, TEM etc. I performed heat treatments and created hardness profiles for the samples, before analyzing them using characterization techniques like light microscopy and scanning electron microscope (SEM) to study the microstructure.

Currently part of the CALPHAD group at the Department of Scale-bridging Thermodynamic and Kinetic Simulation. Gained intensive experience with the Thermo-Calc software to perform calculations and make analyses. Previously, I have also worked with OpenCalphad, an open-source thermodynamic software for equilibrium calculations and simulations. I work on the development and improvement of OpenCalphad, thus understand the back-end complications of the CALPHAD method.
