Vio Wacker

I guided visitor groups around DESY and explained the research and the facility.

My duties involved lending of books, categorizing of books using PACS, the physics and astronomy classification scheme, and different tasks requiring Microsoft Office, particulary Microsoft Excel.

As a student research assitant in the accelerator group at the "Institut für Experimentalphysik" I was given the opportunity to continue my studies for the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory.

During my practical I joined the FEL and Beam Physics Department of the Accelerator Directorate at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. I worked on single-spike hard x-ray pulses from very low charge beams by making start-to-end simulations with ELEGANT and GENESIS 1.3. I learned to read in a topic quickly and to integrate myself in an existing team.
