Blue Tomato is European retailer with over €125M in revenue. The revenue is balanced between both online and offline (store) sales. The company operates physical retail in nine European markets with over 85 shops and a digital business across the world. Blue Tomato employs over 800 people across its organization. The Director of People & Relations will report directly to the CEO and be part of a leadership team comprising six other Directors.
Your tasks
- Act as a business leader, to translate the business strategy into the people’s mission and ensure that they are tightly aligned. Balance commercial priorities with operational feasibility to drive measurable impact across Blue Tomato. Lead and further develop the People & Relations function across all pillars (Employee Engagement & Retention, Skill Management, Talent Acquisition & Employer Branding, Operational Excellence, Digitalization & Analytics)
- Lead, develop, and empower the People & Relations team to grow, take ownership and deliver high-quality business-focused partnership through structured skills and leadership development. Foster a culture of trust, collaboration, and accountability
- Provide strategic direction for People and Leadership Development, Performance Management, Organizational Development, Employer Branding and Talent Acquisition. Lead and execute processes such as the annual salary review cycle across countries and personnel expenses budget process
- Lead and steer the evolution of the People & Relations function through automation, new process design and the use of data to improve efficiency and to enhance employee experience
- Ensure compliance with labor law and other regulatory requirements, maintain robust policy governance and foster effective partnership with work councils and employee representatives
- Act as a strategic partner to the CEO and Senior Leadership Team, collaborating across departments to drive organizational initiatives and champion change to realize the full impact of the people’s mission
Our requirements
- At least 7 years of strategic and operational HR leadership experience with a strong business and operational understanding, preferably in retail
- Proven international HR experience (across Europe) ideally in a company operating in a complex multi-country environment
- Inspirational leader with a track record of building high performing teams through trust, empowerment, and development
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across all organizational levels
- Strong expertise in organizational development, change management, performance management and capability development
- Proven track record of developing and implementing scalable processes and systems
- Pragmatic, hands-on mindset combined with resilience, patience, and a strong drive to deliver results
- Sound understanding of labor law, regulatory requirements and compliance standards
- Fluent in German and English

- The minimum salary according to the applicable collective agreement is €4.481,91 gross per month for a 40-hour work week, based on full fulfillment of the job profile. The actual compensation will, of course, be based on your individual qualifications and relevant professional experience.
