Your responsibilities

Duties include academic services in the project named above. Research associates may also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications.

A key task will be developing new synthetic methodologies to obtain layered transition metal dichalcogenides-based heterostructures for electrocatalytic applications. The focus will be on identifying emergent properties at the interfaces of nanoscale materials. This will involve synthesizing and optimizing these heterostructures, performing laboratory studies to evaluate their electrocatalytic behaviour, and exploring alternative materials or conditions as appropriate. The candidate will also be responsible to design, propose and conduct experiments using XPS or other relevant X-ray techniques to identify and characterize catalytic sites. Work will be carried out independently and in close collaboration with other members of the cluster "CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter”.

Your profile

A university degree in a relevant field.

Applicants should have a master’s degree (latest by the time of employment) in chemistry, nanoscience, materials science, physics, or a related subject. Students with interdisciplinary and international experience are highly encouraged to apply.

We are looking for highly-motivated students with a strong interest in nanoscience and materials research. Prior experience with colloidal synthesis of nanomaterials and their characterization (SEM, PXRD) is required. Knowledge of electrochemical characterization methods is an asset. Experience with X-ray techniques, such as XPS or synchrotron-based methods, is advantageous.

Strong communication skills are expected. Fluency in English is required, as the position involves working in an international research environment.
