Industrial Digitalization Engineer (m/f/*)

What are my responsibilities?

As part of our Industrial Digitalization team within Electrics & Automation, you will develop innovative sensor and automation solutions that make metallurgical processes more transparent, efficient, and data-driven. You will be the technical owner of sensor and automation solutions, guiding them from concept and development through commissioning, customer support, and continuous improvement.

• Develop innovative sensor and automation solutions for metallurgical processes.
• Take responsibility for the complete product lifecycle, from hardware selection and software development through commissioning and customer support at customer sites worldwide
• Design and implement software components using object-oriented programming principles and C++.
• Support the acquisition, processing, and utilization of sensor data for industrial applications.
• Work closely with experts from engineering, data analytics, and process technology to create integrated digital solutions.
• Contribute to the development of new products and technologies within our Industrial Digitalization portfolio.

Technical Expert Activities

• Create technical documentation, operating manuals, and training materials, and deliver customer training to support successful solution adoption.
• Act as a technical expert throughout the sales process by supporting customer engagements and contributing to solution concepts, technical specifications, and proposal development.
• Share technical expertise and content for presentations, demonstrations, and other marketing activities.

What do I need to qualify for this job?

• Completed technical education (FH, University, or equivalent) in Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Solid knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts and practical experience with C++.
• Practical experience with prototyping, automation, data processing, or related technical applications.
• Strong interest in combining software development with industrial applications and sensor technologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability and willingness to explain complex technical concepts to customers, operators, and internal stakeholders through documentation, training, and technical discussions.
• Fluent German and English communication skills, both written and spoken.

Nice to have

• Experience with sensor technologies | with 2D and/or 3D image processing | in industrial automation environments.
• Knowledge of signal processing.
• Pracical experience in working directly with customers in technical project, commissioning, or support environments.
