The Position
The Biospecimen Acquisition and Management (BAM) team at RDI is looking for a motivated BioRepository Intern to join our team in Rotkreuz. In this role, you will provide hands-on support for core biorepository operations, ensuring that biological materials are managed in compliance with established quality and business standards.
This role is ideal for someone looking to gain foundational experience in a laboratory and logistics environment. You will work alongside the BioRepository team to assist with daily tasks and contribute to the smooth running of our sample management workflows.
The Opportunity
In this role, your main focus will be completing routine work under close supervision to ensure all assignments comply with our defined procedures and policies.
Support the successful completion of the Inventory Project by assisting with the retrieval and physical verification of samples, identifying inventory discrepancies, performing controlled sample destructions, and maintaining accurate documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
In collaboration & under supervision of the current biorepository team; supports biorepository daily operations including: sample receipt, verification, destruction and shipments related activities.
Follow departmental work instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) to perform assigned tasks. Duties include handling hazardous biological materials (BSL-2).
Maintains compliance with BSM processes and maintains information in a validated laboratory information management system (LIMS) for Good Clinical Practices and Quality Standards .
Who You Are
We are looking for a team player who is eager to learn and willing to take on routine tasks with high accuracy
You hold an ongoing degree or recent graduate in Life Sciences, Biology, or Biochemistry.
Meticulous attention to detail and excellent data handling skills.
Intermediate level to Proficient level with MS Excel.
Ability to lift objects up to 15kg
Proficient in English; German language skills are considered an asset.
Previous experience in a laboratory setting or with sample management software is desirable but not essential.
A self-motivated individual who values the opportunity to pursue interests across functions and considers a job title as just the starting point of their development.
Additional Information
Non EU/EFTA students must prove that they are enrolled at the University during the full duration of their internship, as well as prove that the internship is a mandatory part of their curriculum
Workload: 80% - 100%
Duration: 6 – 12 months
