Conversion Optimization Specialist (CRO)
At EF Education First, we are travelers, innovators, thinkers and doers. As the world leader in international education, our mission is simple: opening the world through education. Join our Digital Performance team in Zürich and help us make our websites and campaigns work even better for learners in 30+ markets.
The role
As a Conversion Optimization Specialist, you will own the testing and optimization of key web journeys across multiple markets. You’ll translate data, research, and stakeholder input into clear hypotheses, structure experiments from idea to rollout, and turn learnings into scalable improvements. You’ll collaborate closely with designers, developers, marketers, and platform partners, and act as a go-to person for CRO best practices in your area.
What you’ll do
- Own the build, QA, and ongoing optimization of landing pages and funnel steps for Paid Search, Paid Social, and other acquisition channels.
- Plan, set up, and manage A/B and multivariate tests end-to-end in tools like Optimizely, VWO, Google Optimize alternatives, or Meta/Facebook Experiments.
- Define clear hypotheses, success metrics, and test designs; ensure accurate tracking and reliable experiment setup.
- Analyze test results, quantify impact, and translate findings into actionable recommendations and follow-up tests.
- Maintain and prioritize a CRO backlog: identify opportunities, size potential impact, and align with business and channel owners.
- Partner with Design and Development to implement winning variants and UX enhancements based on quantitative data and qualitative insights (heuristic reviews, user feedback, heatmaps, session recordings, surveys).
- Build and maintain dashboards and recurring reports that give stakeholders visibility on performance, test status, and learnings.
- Champion a test-and-learn culture: proactively communicate results, best practices, and new ideas to marketing and product teams.
What you’ll bring
- 1–3 years of hands-on experience in CRO, growth, performance marketing, product, or digital analytics, ideally with direct ownership of experiments or landing page optimization.
- Practical experience with web analytics tools (e.g., GA4, Looker Studio or similar) and comfort navigating funnels, events, and custom reports.
- Working knowledge of A/B testing and experimentation methodology (sample size, statistical significance, experiment design, and limitations).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; you are comfortable working with numbers and turning data into clear stories and decisions.
- Solid Excel / Google Sheets skills (e.g., using formulas for data cleaning, simple analysis, and ad-hoc reporting).
- A collaborative mindset and clear written and verbal communication in English; additional languages are a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple tests and stakeholders at once, prioritize effectively, and follow through with high attention to detail.
Nice to have (not required, but a plus):
- Experience with tools like Optimizely, VWO, or similar testing platforms.
- Exposure to Meta/Google Ads reporting and how traffic quality impacts onsite behavior.
- Basic HTML/CSS/JavaScript skills for briefing or making small landing page tweaks.
- Experience with UX research methods (user interviews, surveys, usability testing) or behavioral insights.
