At the beginning of May, we participated together with our sister companies at IFAT in Munich and presented our joint exhibition stand. ♻️ Wolfgang Kapaun, Project Lead at REDREC, was available to visitors at the trade fair as the contact person for our Bauxite Residue recycling project. We sincerely thank him for representing our project so excellently at the exhibition. 🤝 The significance of Bauxite Residue become apparent through the sheer size of the problem on a global scale. With a global alumina production of around 154 million tonnes in 2025, approximately 150 to 300 million tonnes of red mud are generated as a by-product. 📊 This residual material from aluminium production is still often regarded as waste, although we at Ermafa Environmental Technologies see it as a valuable material with new industrial and ecological utilization potential. For this very reason, Wolfgang is so important as the lead of this project. He has not only recognized this enormous potential but is actively working to further develop it. In the video, Wolfgang explains how Bauxite Residue can be separated into an iron-rich fraction and a depleted fraction, and what utilization possibilities arise from this. The iron-rich fraction can be used in the steel industry for iron production. The depleted fraction offers potential as an additive in concrete, for brick materials, as well as an adsorption material in gas cleaning. Our prototype system is currently in the implementation phase: partner structure and planning are completed, and validation in a real industrial environment will follow. More about the current implementation phase can be found in the video. 🌱 . . . #Ermafa #EnvironmentalTechnologies #RedMud #RedMudRecycling #Sustainability #IFAT2026 #BauxiteResidue   Scientific source: https://lnkd.in/d2D7z_8mwww.linkedin.com

Most people associate plasma either with blood plasma in medicine or with plasma in physics and industry. But how did it come to be that both share the same name? Plasma is encountered more often than many people realize. It is the most common state of matter in the universe and can be found, among other places, in the sun, stars, and lightning. ☀️ Today, through decades of research and technological development, we are able to replicate this natural phenomenon in a targeted way, control it, ...

Methane plays an important role in today’s energy landscape. Methane plays an important role in today’s energy landscape. While methane, like other fossil fuels, contributes to greenhouse gas emissions, it also has certain properties that can be viewed positively in comparison. These include its high energy density and comparatively clean combustion characteristics. ✅ High energy content With approximately 50–55 MJ/kg, methane has an energy density that is higher than that of gasoline (approx. 42–44 MJ/kg) and diesel (approx. 43 MJ/kg). ✅ Clean combustion During combustion, methane primarily produces CO₂ and water. Compared to many other fossil fuels, it results in significantly lower levels of soot and virtually no sulfur compounds. ✅ Efficient energy carrier Its high energy density supports efficient energy delivery and represents an advantage compared to some other fossil fuels. In a time when efficiency, resource conservation, and emissions reduction are becoming increasingly important, energy carriers should always be assessed in a holistic way; from energy density to combustion behavior. . . . #Methane #PlasmaTechnology #B2B #Austria #EET #Ermafa #PlasmaSunwww.linkedin.com

Without bauxite, there is no aluminium, bauxite is the primary aluminium ore and the key raw material for industrial aluminium production. It forms through the weathering of aluminium-rich rocks in tropical and subtropical climates. 📍 Key global deposits: Australia, Brazil, Guyana, Jamaica, and China are among the largest producers. In Europe, bauxite deposits can also be found in: France, Greece, Hungary, Croatia, Montenegro, as well as parts of Eastern Europe, including Russia & Ukraine. D...

Following the treatment of bauxite residue using the RedRec process, two fractions are obtained: a heavier, iron-enriched fraction and a lighter, iron-depleted fraction. The lighter fraction is further processed by blending it with carbon-rich materials such as pyrolysis coke and, in future applications, biochar, to create tailored substrate mixtures. These mixtures are currently being tested in plant growth experiments, with the goal of reducing soil erosion and improving the environmental con...
