Currently I am working working as post-doctoral researcher in the field of organometallic chemistry at ETH Zürich. This role mainly involves investigation of industrially important cross-coupling reactions using synthesis and spectroscopy means.

1. Synthesis, characterization and reactivity of organic reactive intermediates such as carbenes using matrix isolation FTIR, UV and EPR spectroscopy in combination with quantum chemical calculations. 2. Supervision of bachelor and master students in chemistry for in-depth and advanced organic synthesis practicals.

Investigation of experimental proton affinity of arylcarbenes, organic bases using Liquid Chromatography Quadrupole-Mass spectrometry (LCQ-MS) and Fourier Transform Ion Cyclotron Resonance Mass Spectrometry (FT-MS).

1. Investigation of hydrogen bonding interactions of N-heterocyclic carbene with proton donors using matrix isolation infrared spectroscopy. 2. Design of experimental setup.

Synthesis of chiral secondary alcohol via catalytic asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of acetophenone using sodium formate as greener hydride source, Ruthenium (II) diamine complex as chiral catalyst and water as solvent.

1. Synthesis and characterization of metal-free catalyst, N-heterocyclic carbenes on different scale. 2. Handling of laboratory techniques such as Rotary evaporation method, drying of solvents, distillation, column chromatography and NMR characterization.

Detection of trace elements in drinking water using Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-AES), Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectroscopy (ICP-MS) and Atomic Flame Emission Spectroscopy (AFES) and comparison with specifications published by WHO in 1993 for Drinking Water.

Organic Synthesis and Spectroscopy
