Über mich
Alexey Markin graduated with his Master thesis in April 2023 at the Hamburg University. The title of his thesis is “(Anti-)Racism in the USSR. Images of the Blacks in the 60s and 70s”. Since 2019 he is co-organizing the seminar series “Decolonize Eastern Europe”. In 2002 he graduated with a Diploma in Fine Art at the Stroganov University. In 2021 he gave a paper at the conference “Idenitités”, University of Trier, on “Outside World as an Enemy. The Mural of the Last Judgment in Spas-na-Senjach Church”; in 2019 and 2018 he contributed to the exhibition catalogues “Hamburger Schule” and “Mutter Erde. Vorstellungen von Natur und Weiblichkeit in der Frühen Neuzeit”. As part of the art collective “Krasnaya Shpana”, he published the book “To Whom the Avant-Garde Belongs. Malevich Project” in 2019 and held a discussion on “The Role of the Art Avant-garde in Contemporary Cultural Politics” at Kiev's cultural institution “Izolytsia”.
