Student Research Assistant
•Research and analyses of new materials and concepts in the field of machine tool components, with the goal of designing a lighter and more efficient cooling system for a lightweight spindle. •I researched various aluminum foams and testing them in a wind tunnel in order to find an appropriate material model to describe their behavior. In a subsequent step I designed a cooling structure for the spindle based on the estimated model, in a CAD assembly, and simulated its thermal behavior using ANSYS.
