Dr. Erato Basea

In my role as Portfolio Manager at Routledge, Taylor & Francis, I focus on the financial and editorial development and growth of a diverse portfolio of academic journals. I work closely with editors, societies and other external partners to ensure contract renewal. I manage the financial performance of c.30 journals, negotiate contracts, report to editorial boards, and present at outreach activities. In addition, I work closely with our Publisher in identifying opportunities for growth and development.

I was responsible for the production of c. 30 journals, contributing to editorial strategy and identifying areas for journal development and growth. My duties included: • Planning and implementing journal strategies and workflow efficiencies to improve speed and quality. • Leading and following up on Editorial Board Meetings. • Resolving permissions queries. • Monitoring budgets. • Training newstarters. • Managing suppliers. • Projects.

As a customer-focused member of the lively Student Services team of the School of Geography and the Environment, I was responsible for the day-to-day administration of two MSc courses, including budget management.

I conducted academic research, showcased my research outputs, and presented at domestic and international conferences. I spent the first year of my work in residency in Reid Hall, in Paris, to advance the centre’s global exchange.

I led, planned and delivered courses using innovative teaching methods in various settings at Oxford, SciencesPo and Columbia.
