Eric Descourtieux

Trident Energy is an international oil and gas group focused on the acquisition, operation and optimisation of mid-life assets, specifically in Latin America and Africa.

Perenco is an international oil and gas exploration and production company headquartered in London and Paris. Eric Descourtieux was the Chief Financial Officer of the company for nearly eight years, from September 2008 to March 2016. His responsibilities included overseeing the business’ Finance department, making decisions regarding corporate loans, treasury, risk management and accounting and tax. He was also in charge of Business Development, achieved through a mix of acquisitions and organic growth.

As the Country General Manager for Colombia and Venezuela of Perenco, the oil and gas exploration and production company, Eric Descourtieux was based in Caracas in Venezuela, and in Bogota in Colombia. In this role, he oversaw operations in the two countries and was in charge of Business Development and maintaining Perenco’s relationships with the local Regulatory Authorities and National Oil Companies of Venezuela and Colombia.

Eric Descourtieux was initially Finance Manager for Guatemala for two years before the scope of his role was extended to all four Latin American business units of Perenco. He ran the Finance departments of the business units and was in charge of the Auditing and Management Control. Based in Paris, he was in this wider role for two years before moving to Caracas in Venezuela to become a Country General Manager in the same company.

As the Finance Manager for Gabon of the oil and gas exploration and production company, Perenco, Eric Descourtieux was in charge of the accounting, financial reporting, tax matters, human resources and cost control of the subsidiary. He spent over four years based in Port-Gentil in Gabon, before moving to Guatemala City to become Perenco’s Finance Manager for Guatemala there.
