At the moment I work on modeling and analytical calculations of indirect gas air-heater. I have written a program that calculates combustion and heat transfer within the air-heater to estimate various surface temperatures based on "trial and error" approach. Based on this program, a 9MW air heater and three others are successfully built and commissioned. In addition to that, I have calculated the energy-flow in a milk drying plant to assess the efficiency of heat exchangers.
My Ph.D. can help improving the efficiency of energy consuming industries such as metallurgy or crystal-growth furnaces. It can also be used to improve the liquid metal batteries. In this thesis the effect of magnetic field on liquid metal flows is investigated. Meanwhile I designed and performed experiments to investigate the necessity of water cooling for electrically-heated liquid metal in a complex setup with which and with simultaneous analytical calculations the right decision is made.
