Hannah Chisholm

My role was to assess the appropriateness of General Practitioner or Hospital Doctor referrals for treatments, investigations, or care for patients in the community to this service and coordinate these. My role also required me to provide advice and direction to referring clinicians using clinical pathways and expereince and provide administrative support.

I helped run the New Zealand arm of an international clinical trial on diabetes mellitus (type 2) prevention. I screened potential participants (using standardised risk questionnaires, I took blood and analysed samples, took anthropomorphic measurements, ECG's, social and medical histories). I co-faciliated weekly group meetings with participants and helped them with their diet and exercise requirements. I used the data I collected to produce my own research which received first class honours.
