    I established SCT Finance, after I realised opportunities to provide custom made Supply Chain Finance solutions for primarily Saudi companies. This is to ease their liquidity situation in times of the near absence of new domestic bank finance. 2016 – • I introduced Supply Chain Finance to a large listed company; • A trial transaction has been successfully concluded; => an additional USD 20 mio of short term liquidity is generated at a lower rate than what would be achievable from a domestic bank!

    I suggested to a previous customer of mine to jointly set up a new oil trading company in Vienna trading Russian diesel oil with the dynamic markets of Southeastern Europe where I had spotted a market niche. The partner brought into the company most of its equity and his contacts among oil importers whilst I used my banking contacts to arrange for finance and L/C confirmation lines. => Achieved USD 10 mio monthly turnover at height of trading!

    Post-privatization to an Indian investor, I was approached by the bank's new CEO to set up and run the new International Business Division. I got shareholder and Board approval for my business strategy prior to joining and made the new business division operational within the envisaged 3-month period. Emphasis was on financing Indian-owned companies in Europe and in the Gulf region. I left the bank due to disagreement with the shareholders about requested changes to the agreed strategy.

    UK Trade & Investment provided support to new and existing UK exporters. Its role was equivalent to Chambers of Commerce. I advised UK SMEs: - to develop a successful export strategy (focus on Middle East & German speaking Europe); - on risk mitigation (commercial insurance / ECA cover); I successfully nurtured several SMEs to successfully start exporting for the first time. However, the role turned out to be mainly a "civil servant" role without the expected entrepreneurial flavour.

    I was directly approached by the bank's CEO to restructure the international business and to assist the Board with Change Management. I developed & implemented trade finance business strategy and within 3-years, achieved a portfolio of nearly EUR 500 m with an average margin of 6.34% pa and without NPLs! - negotiating bilateral trade finance facilities - providing acquisition finance - direct reporting to CEO; reporting lines from 20 team members - voting member of ATB's Credit Committee.

    I had signed a 1-year contract to develope a syndication strategy to increase the speed of Balance Sheet turnover and to establish a professional Syndication & Agency Desk and train the relevant employees: => within 6 months of operations, we achieved a Joint Mandated Arranger mandate for a Saudi Aramco refinery project and the Sole Mandate for the Jebal Omar development in Mecca. I also advised on asset composition of ARC's Middle Eastern Shipping Fund as well as ARC's Asian Infrastructure Fund.

I established the Loan Syndication Desk with an initial headcount of 3 which increased later to 13. => Leagues table status was achieved within 1 year of operations; we were consistently among the top 3 Landesbanken thereafter. I developed “Loan Warehouse Concept” and “Syndication Assessment Tool” to optimise syndication process.
