Headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, America West Resources, Inc. is an established domestic coal producer focused on the mining of compliant (low-sulfur) coal and its sale primarily to U.S. utility companies for use in heating water and creating steam used to turn turbine engines and ultimately produce electricity from coal fired power plants. Since 2003, the Company has extracted over 1.4 million tons of coal from its owned and operated Horizon Coal Mine located 11 miles outside of Helper, Utah.

Build relationships and provide international investment banking services to select, private clients in Brazil. Focused on packaging and marketing mineral and other tangible and financial assets to private U.S., Chinese, Middle Eastern, and European investors.

Recruited to build overall risk management program for new company. Established policies for managing risks with banking, credit extension, foreign exchange, liability, loss-of-asset, loss-of-usage, pension, and trading functions. Directed insurance planning and procurement.

Created new organization and managed new Company’s global cash management, global credit extension, and accounts receivable collections. Designed and managed U.S. employees’ savings and pension plans. Managed budget of $3M.

Developed Finance Function for American Electric Power, DuPont, and Conoco new joint venture. Selected corporate headquarters and agreed with CEO upon global organization and overall corporate communications plan. Recruited Finance staff from among joint venture partners, developed overall corporate budget, visited targeted power asset locations, and secured long-term financing with global banks.

Built and trained team of professionals to provide financial support for new power business entity. Selected, trained, and mentored six professionals. Assisted in selection and development of staff for global offices. Results: Maintained staff and budget at original, approved levels, despite increase in revenues of over 400% within successful new company.

Re-energized treasury team of 15 professionals. Became knowledgeable on developments in exploration and production and natural gas markets. Led group to high performance standards. Results: Provided quality support to exploration and production and natural gas and gas products divisions within company.

Key member of European Treasury Managers’ team. Directed and managed treasury operations for Eastern Europe. Reorganized European Treasury, saving $20M. Managed staff of 25 and budget of $3M.

Reorganized all investment activities of Conoco’s captive insurance companies within three months. Recorded all investment transactions accurately. Improved cash forecasting and extended investment horizons. Results: Improved returns on investment portfolio by 0.20%, adding additional investment income of $1.2 Million annually.
