John Duperon

I am one of two founders and owners of Scionics. I'm involved in controlling, HR, sales, marketing, and software development. I have performed tasks related to all of these items in the past, but others now have these duties and report to me.

• Managed a team that developed a bioinformatics database and wrote software to display the results of a genetic screen research project. This resulted in a Nature publication (Nature #409, November 16, 2000) • Designed the new Max Planck Institute for Cellular Biology and Genetic’s computer infrastructure, selected and budgeted components, network protocols, design of client OS independent central storage schema, etc. • Managed a team responsible for the creation of several web applications

• Designed and created web accessible software for client interaction with an Oracle database using Perl. This software was the basis of resortsandlodges.com • Oracle Database Administration (Version 8.0.4) • Maintained and updated company software written in Java • Installed Windows NT/98 workstations and administered the Windows network

• Created/designed web pages using HTML, Dynamic HTML, and Javascript • Designed, developed and supported CGI scripts, both company and client • Helped setup and maintain a network of 100 Macintosh 5260’s and 5400’s, performed network troubleshooting, created/deleted user accounts, installed software.

• Designed and developed a system in Perl to enable professors to give, students to take, and professors to grade assignments all via the WWW.

• Network and PC troubleshooting • Created web page and Perl script to provide a web interface to the ARS problem report database • System administrator for an SGI running Unix (IRIX)

• Explored the use of threads and parallel programming in a UNIX (Solaris) environment. • Created the interface for a static analysis tool for parallel programming (written in C).
