Karoline Diesing

I worked at the lab of Prof. Frank Buttgereit. My master project included building a cell-based model for glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis which can serve as an alternative model for animal testings. Here, I could improve my spectrum of practical and scientific skills and conclude my master thesis.

I was employed in the group of PD Dr. Christina Kühn maintaining young plants and algae cultures. On top of that, I helped to manage lab organization and in my project I characterized an unknown plasmodesma protein in potato plants using common assays.

In my first job subsequently after my Bachelor studies I improved techniques I learned in the studies and to design my own experiments. Furthermore, my area of responsibilities included to organize finances and lab orders, to manage the lab as well as to instruct medicine students in Good Laboratory Practice.

In my master degree, I was able improve cell biology on more levels, like plant physiology. In my master thesis, I was lucky to work on an alternative cell-based model for osteoporosis (GIOP). My project was part of the 3R initiative of Charité Berlin.

In my studies I specialized, particularly in my thesis, in protein biochemistry, cell biology and molecular biology. In my thesis I worked with p53-disfunctional renal cell carcinoma in the urology lab of the university medicine.
