Manuel Bayer

During my doctoral research at the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute at the University of Groningen, I have established a solid foundation in data analysis, programming, and research methodologies.

I finished a scientific report on the results obtained from the analysis of the multi-wavelength brightness data of a galaxy and its stellar system and models of this data for specialists of the field. COMMUNICATION AND LEADERSHIP In group meetings I presented this work other members of the research group. I also regularly organised and chaired these group meetings, fostering teamwork. WEBSITE MANAGEMENT I contributed to the maintenance of the website of the research group using HTML.

This was collaborative research work on the analysis of multi-wavelength image and tabular brightness data of a galaxy for specialists of the field. During this time I had also gaps in the work to focus again on my studies. COMMUNICATION I presented this work with a lightning talk at an international conference in Heidelberg and also regularly to members of the research group.

Coursework includes statistical methods and two English courses on contemporary issues. I received an Erasmus+ Traineeship Scholarship for a research visit to the Jeremiah Horrocks Institute, University of Central Lancashire, Preston, United Kingdom for the first part of my master's thesis. In my master's thesis I worked on the compilation, processing, and analysis of multidimensional and multiparameter image and tabular data of a set of stellar objects using bash and Python.

Coursework included (1) linear algebra and math for physicists, (2) Python course, (3) a presentation seminar, (4) a LaTeX course, (5) computational science/physics, (6) a B2 English course, and (7) physics labs.
