Marcus Thym

In this position, I am involved in several activities determined to working towards the improvement of the Masters programs Innovation Science and Sustainable Business and Innovation.

During this internship, I gained hands-on experience in the field of photovoltaics, with a focus on the planning of industrial and large-scale PV projects as well as sales activities. Building on my previous research projects that explored PV from a macro perspective, I particularly enjoyed the opportunity to dive into the micro and execution-oriented aspects of the sector.

In this position as a Teaching Assistant, I have the privilege to look behind the curtains of teaching the course “Global Integration Project” course of the program Global Sustainability Science at UU. Besides that I can try out my leadership and presentation skills in front of young students and learn about the different dynamics in such a novel setting.

Working at peakz was an interesting experience aside my studies. While my main tasks were focussed on usual gastronomy work, I found it interesting to have a look behind the business structures of franchising in the gastronomy sector.

In this part time job over the summer break, I mainly packed, and delivered commissions to customers/construction sites. While working at a company, specialized on photovoltaic systems, I was not only going home with a gain in money, but also one in knowledge about how solar systems are planned and built. Working with the components of such a system on a daily basis, and my background in engineering (highschool-specialization), I was able to gain a better understanding of it quickly.

In this part time job over the summer break, I assisted the way of a commission through the inventory, up until the delivery to the customer.

In this Internship, I learned to assist the inventory management and improved my Excel-skills.

In this position I took beside high school, I learned the basics of working in retail, such as registering sales, restocking the store and customer service.

In this internship as a mechanic in a KTM-franchise, I improved my mechanic skills with motorcycles and learned several service procedures.

In this amazing opportunity, I will deepen my understanding of Business topics in multiple courses, being Management Accounting, Project Management and Digital Economics.
