The shift to an LH2 tank made of composite materials offers significant weight reduction due to their low density. However, incorporating bolted connections into CFRP structures presents challenges, especially in achieving threaded flanges that can withstand high loads in cryogenic environments. This thesis investigated three designs for the manhole flange and cover of an LH2 tank, each optimized for mechanical performance, weight reduction, manufacturing costs, and sealing reliability

- Performing nonlinear finite element analyses (FEA): development and meshing of finite element models - Evaluation, interpretation, and documentation of FEA results - Automation of evaluation processes using Python and Excel - Post-processing of test data and comparison with FEA results - Literature review and assessment of failure criteria for fiber-reinforced structures
