It provides consulting services around the world in the Civil Engineering field with special emphasis on Geotechnical Engineering, Tunneling, Underground Construction, Water and Wastewater Engineering, and Structural Engineering.

Teaching

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Group in LinkedIn is a meeting place for the Civil Engineering community to network, interact, and exchange ideas. ASCE was founded in 1852 to represent members of the civil engineering profession worldwide. It is the oldest national engineering society in the United States. ASCE's vision is to have engineers positioned as global leaders who strive toward building a better quality of life.

Quality assurance and review of designs and reports; constructability reviews; project feasibility studies and value engineering; Expert technical advice to SOMAT’s Detroit, Taylor, West Bloomfield, and Grand Rapids offices in Michigan; Cleveland and Brooklyn Heights offices in Ohio; Beltsville and Baltimore offices in Maryland; and Washington DC Office.

Project management; cost estimation and alternative evaluation; design of Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) control facilities such as basins, tunnels, treatment shafts, sewers, screening and disinfection facilities, and pump stations; preparation of project plans and basis of design reports; preparation of proposals, budget, contract amendments, and change orders; preparation of design drawings, construction specifications, and contract documents; project cash flow analysis and budget evaluation.

Foundation analysis and design; geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring; construction monitoring; failure analysis; analysis and design of retaining structures, slopes, embankments, and underground facilities; design of soil improvement and dewatering procedures; preliminary evaluation of CSO control alternatives such as basins, rock and soft ground tunnels, and new concepts.

Managed Eastern Province office of the company with over 180 personnel from 16 different countries. Area operations included marketing of consulting and contracting services, client development, procurement of sub-consultant/subcontractor services, contract and budget negotiations, personnel management, hiring and training of engineers, and planning and execution of projects. The area office, started with less than ten staff members, grew to become one of the main revenue generating offices.
