Development of mechanical resonators and microwave micro-striplines for Magnetic Resonance Force Microscopy (MRFM)

Project manager in the R&D department. Duties and responsibilities included: -photolithographic masks design, -optical waveguide simulations, -development of advanced devices, -maintenance and upgrade of SLED characterisation setup, -qualification and control of epitaxy and processing suppliers. -development of semiconductor device fabrication processes, -BEOL processing of GaN-based devices

I worked on optically-pumped passively modelocked GaInNAs Vertical External Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers (VECSELs) emitting at 1300 nm. My responsibilities included: -the development of an optical setup to characterise the VECSELs under high pump-power, -processing and characterisation of the devices, VECSELs and SEmiconductor Saturable Absorption Mirrors (SESAMs), -assisting in the maintenance of the clean-room equipment (including the two MBEs), -project management, -lab teaching duties.

Semiconductor optoelectronics. My project focused on the study and development of GaAs-based dilute nitride materials, with the aim of using them to fabricate telecommunication-wavelengths (1.3 µm and 1.55 µm) lasers.
