Dr. Patrick Helfenstein

First hired to join the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT) for the development of a flat-panel X-ray source based on field-emission from carbon nanotubes. After this project was completed, I took the chance to move to a more software oriented position and worked on the development of a mobile E-Nose (Smell Sensor). My main responsibility was the development and implementation of machine learning algorithms for training the sensor to detect odors.

Continuation of double-gate field emitter array cathode project.

PhD in vacuum nanoelectronics (development of metallic field emitter arrays as possible high-brightness electron source for the SwissFEL free electron laser)

Tutoring Mathematics & Physics to students

Working with a fellow student, we developed an accounting tool, taylored to the specific needs of the company. We also did some user support (updates etc.)
