Ruchira Bhowmik

As a DAAD Doctorate Fellow in Virology at Hannover Medical School, I perform studies on viral gene expression in the oncovirus, KSHV. I have a Master of Science degree in Botany from the University of Calcutta, where I also completed my Bachelors in the same field. I have more than two years of work experience in molecular biology, including a summer internship at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. I have developed skills in cell line development, virus production, and CRISPR Cas9 systems among many others which enable me to perform cutting edge research. I have also published a review article on the recent advancements of CRISPR to target the proviral HIV-1 genome in AIDS Research and Therapy. My core competencies include analytical thinking, scientific writing, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork. I am passionate about finding innovative solutions for global health challenges, and I aspire to become a leading researcher and educator in the field of virology.
