Founded in 1999, the Benchmark Retirement Fund was established by Retirement Fund Solutions at the request of financial professionals who wanted a dedicated vehicle for their retirement investments with a choice of financial strategies and investments in leading Namibian funds. Since it was established, Benchmark has grown year-on-year, and now serves a number of high net worth individuals and smaller entities. It has a membership in excess of 7,500 and administers assets of N$ 1.3 billion.

Paraselene employs various strategies when making fund investments and this would generally depend on the circumstances relating to each transaction. The company has used off-market debt instruments, mezzanine financing structures, unlisted equity and derivatives or composites of such instruments. While the fund is not precluded from investments in listed equities, debt or derivatives instruments, such investments have generally been used as a hedge for an off-market debt and financing position.
