Freelance user experience consultant

As a consultant for a design, technology and business consultancy my role was often pivotal in determining a client’s digital presence and behavior, based on a balanced understanding and appreciation of business and user requirements, expectation and need.

My role involved managed a diversity of high quality digital user experiences across a number of verticals, such as financial, retail, publishing, charity, social media, education and music download. I led the development of the company’s user experience team and methodologies, acting as the company ‘s accessibility and usability consultant and champion. This included setting up from scratch and managing a state of the art in-house usability testing lab.

I joined Interesource as a contactor to work on the re-development of RNID’s online services, delivering a fully accessible (AAA) Amazon style shop and website. The success of the project led Interesource to ask me to join their permanent staff as senior designer and accessibility consultant. In the following 2 years I successfully developed and championed the company’s user experience and accessibility presence, achieving promotion to Head of User Experience.

‘I Need Art Ltd’ was my own design and consultancy business from 2002 to 2004. Clients included Lloyd's of London, Amnesty International, Medway council, The Social exclusion unit and the Consumer portal for the department of trade and industry (Govt), The teacher training agency (TTA) and Poptel technology.
