The thesis is on the "Islanding detection method for a DC medium voltage grid in a cruise ship". The main scope of the thesis is as follows : • Detection of islanding condition in a DC-DC LV and MV network. • Validation and verification of the islanding scenarios. • Quantification of KPI for accuracy and efficacy of the chosen methods. • Designing a robust system within the framework of project.

The area of work during the internship involved the group of Smart Grid Testing from the prospect of wide area protection in transmission and distribution. The responsibilities of the internship was: •Preliminary research of bottleneck and congestion in a transmission network. •Development of a study case template from the research journals to segregate the methodologies. •Understanding of the IEC 61850 and the use case for islanding detection scenarios.

• Planning of project from survey to commissioning. • Floating RFQ for the techno-commercial part of the project and bill of material finalization. • Task assigned to engineering team with finalized drawings and designs. • Selecting proper modules, inverters, and finalization of AC & DC SLD, components while carrying out overall environmental assessments and agreements.

• Led a team of operation & Maintenance for rooftop(19.46 MWp) & ground mounted plants(12.5 MWp). • Responsible for regular monitoring and inspection of preventive and corrective maintenance by coordination with OEM vendors for equipment maintenance and site teams. • Identifying problems and developing corrective action plans by scheduling and executing preventive and predictive maintenance • Responding to emergency callouts ensuring that all O&M activities performed at project sites.

• Responsible for operational level understanding of the requirement of the client/customer, site visits, site feasibility & solar systems design, and complete execution. • Drawing/Document submission/approvals, scheduling, factory inspections, proving the guaranteed specifications, and preparation of a generalized checklist for review of all standards. • End-to-end execution of solar projects and annual maintenance and project management through the installation, testing, and commissioning of the system.

•Surveying of various locations across India for preliminary assessment of rooftop solar PV systems on government buildings. •Designing initial sketch of space available for the design team for final assessment CAD drawing. •PV Syst simulation for initial project assessment report and initial project quotation.
