R&D of trace elemental analyzers (ICP optical emission spectrometers and combustion elemental analyzers): • Translate user and sales force requirements into technical specifications • Evaluate design concepts and select suppliers • Design and perform proof-of-principle experiments • Advise and support engineers during implementation • Assess regulatory compliance of the designs • Generate symptom-driven troubleshooting procedures in order to assist Technical Support • Improve existing products

Research: • Low temperature combustion • Gas phase diagnostics • Molecular-beam mass spectrometry • VUV photo ionization mass spectrometry • Combustion chemistry of biofuels Teaching: • Organised and managed lab courses in physical chemistry for first-year students (120 participants) • Supervised lab courses and tutorials in physical chemistry and spectroscopy for undergraduate students • Supervised research studies and bachelor theses of advanced students
