Investigated potential application of Saccharomyces cerevisiae as biocatalyst for higher molecular weight HMOs synthesis. The approach of HMOs synthesis in yeast is novel, and can be a potential accessory model system to unravel HMOs production during lactation. Strain improvement, characterization of enzymes necessary for fucosylation and sialylation, and heterologous expression of enzymes of respective optimized pathways in E coli and S. cerevisiae.

Established purification protocols for eight recombinant lectins from mammalian culture media by classical chromatography methods. Optimized process for transient gene expression and scale-Up of HEK293 suspension cell cultures to enhance recombinant lectins production. Identified glycan specificity of recombinant lectins. Identified divalent metal ion dependent stem cell growth factor affinity towards heparin.

Trainee fellowship in bio-molecular NMR with emphasis towards method development for structural characterization of amyloid fibrils by solid state NMR.

Project - Biopolysurf „Development of Nano and Micro patterned Matrices with elastin like protein on Polylactic acid (PLA) thin films and investigate Saos-2 cells growth response. “ Optimized parameters of plasma treatment to modify wettability, and to improve surface chemistry of PLA thin films for enhanced protein binding.
