We invite applications for a 3-year full-time postdoc position at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin at the Department for Psychiatry and Neurosciences (CCM). The successful candidate will use large scale datasets (e.g., via the ENIGMA Neuroendocrinology Working Group) and state-of-the-art neuroimaging and computational methods to investigate how the transition to menopause impact women’s brain aging and constitute risk for brain-related conditions, such as Alzheimer’s disease and depression. The position is funded by the European Research Council and is part of the ERC-StG project MappingPerimenopause, led by Prof. Dr. Claudia Barth.
Overview of the position
- Co-chair the ENIGMA Neuroendocrinology Menopause Transition Subgroup together with the PI, including the coordination of meetings, communication with international partners, and oversight of subgroup activities
- Plan, coordinate, and execute research analyses within the framework of MappingPerimenopause, making use of large-scale harmonized neuroimaging and neuroendocrine datasets
- Contribute to the development of methodological and conceptual frameworks for the study of the menopause transition in neuroscience and endocrinology
- Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts, presentations, and reports, and disseminate findings at national and international conferences
- Support the overall management and visibility of the project by assisting in the organization of meetings, workshops, and collaborative initiatives
- You are engaged in scientific work, and in accordance with §110 (4) sentence 3 of the BerlHG (Berlin Higher Education Act), an appropriate amount of time is granted to you for your own scientific qualification
What we are looking for
- A PhD in neuroscience, psychology, medicine, or other relevant fields; the dissertation must be submitted for evaluation by the application deadlinproven experience in computational modelling and analysis of magnetic resonance imaging data
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and programming (e.g. in R, Python or similar)
- A stage-appropriate track-record of high-quality publications
- Aptitude for biological inference and clinical translation
- Fluent oral and written communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively; strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and managerial skills
- Interest Open Science practices and Women’s Health Advocacy will be considered an asset

Information regarding the position
- Paygrade E13 according to TVöD VKA-K. Your job grade depends on your job qualification whereas the experience level depends on the number of working years. The yearly gross salary is hereby provided based on a full time position excluding yearly bonus and additional pay. You may find further information here
- Working hours can be part-time from 30.5 or full-time with up to 38.5 hours per week. Please indicate how many hours you would like to work per week
- The position is limited for 3 years, as it is tied to the project duration
- 30 days of paid vacation per year
