Then come and join our global team as PhD Student (f/m/d) in adaptive radiotherapy using advanced functional MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging).
Choose the best place for your work – Within the scope of this position, it is possible, in consultation with your manager, to work mobile (within Germany) up to an average volume of 60% of the respective working hours.
Your tasks and responsibilities:
- You will explore innovative approaches to leverage advanced MRI techniques for informing and improving adaptive radiotherapy workflows, contributing to the development of next-generation imaging-based treatment strategies
- You will develop and evaluate predictive models for tumor progression and treatment response, incorporating multimodal and longitudinal imaging data
- You will design and conduct clinical evaluations, focusing on the integration of functional MRI into adaptive radiotherapy
- You will publish in international scientific conferences and journals
- With supportive and dedicated supervision, you will learn to independently address and solve scientific challenges
- You may travel both internationally and domestically for collaboration visits and conferences

Your qualifications and experience:
- You have completed a Master of Science Degree in Medical Engineering, Physics, Computational Engineering or similar (in the field Natural Sciences, Technology, Engineering)
- You have good programming skills, e.g., using Python and/or C++
- You are familiar with MR imaging (i.e., sequences, acquisition, reconstruction, processing)
- You have experience with both classical and deep learning-based image processing
- You ideally have a good knowledge of requirements and workflows in the clinics, especially a radiotherapy department (e.g. treatment plan optimization, image-guided radiotherapy) from your education and/or prior work experience
Your attributes and skills:
- You have very good English and at least good German skills (written and spoken)
- You work with scientific rigor and have already written a scientific text in English (e.g., a university assignment or your master’s thesis)
- You will gain insights into both the industry and clinical side to imaging for radiotherapy
- Organizing yourself and working independently come easy to you. You also do not have problems asking for help if you are stuck
- Teamwork, communication skills and structured working complete your profile!
