Summary
The Accountant I is responsible for managing IT prepaid expenses and ensuring accurate financial reporting. Key duties include setting up and auditing prepaid invoices in Workday, creating amortization schedules, preparing journal entries, performing reconciliations, and supporting month-end close. The role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in Excel, and 2–5 years of accounting experience. Workday experience and knowledge of prepaid accounting are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify and set up IT prepaids.
• Define criteria for prepaid invoices with amortization schedules, including cost and service period thresholds.
• Review and approve prepaid invoices in Workday:
• Confirm invoice lines tagged with prepaid-related spend categories (e.g., subscription, license, maintenance).
• Match actual invoice details and confirm service coverage period.
• Set invoice as prepaid and create amortization schedule.
• Check prepaid box on invoice line.
• Enter term in memo and select "schedule” as amortization type in prepaid details tab.

• Audit all new prepaids for accuracy in ledger and amortization setup.
• Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Maintain IT financial data accuracy through journal entries, monthly reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
• Assist with Fixed Asset tasks (PPE roll forward, FA reconciliation, acquisitions/disposals).
• Support IT accounting certifications and project accounting tasks.
• Book accruals for operational spending.
• Collaborate with IT P2P and IT Finance teams for proactive problem-solving.
• Research, analyze, and implement new strategies, programs, and processes. Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• Strong PC skills: Excel (required), Word, PowerPoint.
• Workday experience strongly preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with prepaids or prepaid accounting guidance preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
• Proven business partnering and cross-functional collaboration skills.
