Das Parlamentarische Patenschafts-Programm für junge Berufstätige (PPP) ist ein deutsch- amerikanisches Austauschprogramm, das vom Deutschen Bundestag und dem US-Kongress gefördert und von Cultural Vistas gGmbH durchgeführt wird. Als PPP-Stipendiat*in besuche ich einen Deutsch Intensivkurs, studiere an einer deutschen Hochschule/Universität, engagiere mich ehrenamtlich und absolviere ein Praktikum. Das Programm fördert den kulturellen Austausch an deutschen Hochschulen sowie auf dem Arbeitsmarkt.

Worked on two different data collections, Empathy Observations and Timing &Tracking in Monterey Bay Aquarium’s new exhibit “Into The Deep”. For Empathy Observations I would rotate between 4 different areas in the exhibit and observe a party of people to note down certain behaviors and thoughts they would express towards the animals. For timing and tracking, I would track one random patron throughout the exhibit make note of how they interacted in each part of the exhibit.

Created a five-star sustainability rating scale to be used at the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Innovation Lab. The purpose of the scale is to help rate individual items on how eco-friendly they are, and to help scope which items to continue using in the lab. The scale will be used both internally and by students who engage in the lab.

Created a historical timeline of events in Vieques centered on the Navy’s presence and its impact. Data for the timeline was gathered via a literature search and through transcriptions of interviews done with people who reside in Vieques. Also helped with the creation of the website for the research project.

Created a stakeholder database with the information of different groups that focus on farmworker issues. Along with that, we also developed a report that contains information on farmworkers' demographics across the United States. The purpose for this was to gain more accessible knowledge that will then influence changes in the Worker Protection Standard.

Analyzed results from a community survey done in Watsonville regarding the effects of climate change on the community. We heavily focused on the effects of heat on farmworkers. The end result was three different presentations and a case study report.
