Optimization for the scale-up of a continuous bacterial fermentation process. Working on 1L reactors with downstream processing. Common techniques used in microbiology, sterile work, sampling, improvement of the chemical composition of the medium. Setting up the entire equipment controlled through a software interface. Data analysis and modelling in order to extract key upscale parameters. Training the intern replacing me. Working language: mostly German

Training and mentoring of 2 students from WISEST. Development of nanomaterials through surface initiated free radical polymerization, ultimately used to cover biomaterials in order to diminish immune rejection. Scale-up, modification and optimization of an existing procedure. Characterizations: 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, LC/MS and ITC. Procurement of chemicals and other supplies. Literature, database and safety documentation search. Working language: exclusively English
