Daniel Leix Palumbo

PhD candidate at the Centre for Media and Journalism Studies & Centre of Language, Technology & Culture. The research project (2022-2027) is funded by the "NWO PhDs in the Humanities" grant and supervised by Prof.Dr. Susan Aasman, Dr. Robert Prey and Dr. Matt Coler, under the title: “From Spoken Audio to Digital Identities: How AI impacts the interpretation of information communicated by the sound of voice“. I conduct research on the use of voice biometrics in European asylum procedures.

I've been working on the music production, post-production and sound design of various projects, commissioned by cultural organisations and companies such as the Institute of Network Cultures (INC), The Princess of Asturias Foundation, Palazzo Reale Milano, Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi, LUMINALE - Biennale for Lichtkunst und Stadtgestaltung, Amsterdam Alternative, HUAWEI Mobile Italia, etc. My work can be listened to at https://danielleixpalumbo.com/

Research assistantship at the Department of Sociology with Dr. Olga Sezneva in the project "Brick and Gelatine", on geopolitics, visual culture and Post-Soviet culture.

Research internship at the Department of Media Studies where I assisted Dr. Carolyn Birdsall’s NWO-funded research on radio archival and sound collections at European heritage institutions.
