As "Beauftragter für Informationssicherheit" I am the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of the University Hospital Ulm and work directly for CEO. The University Hospital Ulm is kritikal infrastructure according to EU und German law. This requires, by law, a much higher standard of security and business continuity management. This does not only affect "information" but includes the continutiy and availability of the core services.

I took up the newly created role of Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) as required by the new IT-Security Laws. I am responsible for implementing Information Security, introducing an Information Security Management System including audits, monitoring and reporting KPIs for the IT-Systems. I am the official contact point for government agencies for oversight. My role for Research and Education was expanded (including teaching classes at the University).

Responsible for IT staff, procurement and tenders, business cases, standards and technology review, IT processes and quality management, risk management, IT consulting and solutions for medical research and the university hospital teaching departments as well as the Academy for Healthcare (a subsidiary of the University Hospital Ulm).

As Head of the IT Services department my responsibilities include the planing and operation of the IT Services for the hospital and research departments. The Universitätsklinikum Ulm (University Hospital Ulm) is the largest health and patient care complex in the region.
