Thema des Seminars: aktuelle Politik in angelsächsischen Ländern u.a. UK-EU Beziehungen.

Zuerst als Praktikant eingestellt aber nach zwei Wochen als Politikreferent angestellt mit ähnlichen Aufgaben wie bei der Botschaft von Neuseeland in Berlin.

UKTI and The British Embassy in Berlin play a key role in delivering the UK strategy on boosting British exports to, and inward investment from, Germany; leading on sectors covering energy, infrastructure & security, creative industries, education and consumer goods and ICT.

Completed an internship with Tanja Schorer-Dremel, deputy of the Bavarian State Diet. During the internship I complied briefing notes on diverse topics. I also prepared presentations for school visits, letters and replies to constituents and organisations in the local community, updated the party website and even took pictures during a visit by Bavarian State Premier. Through these activities I gained a thorough insight into the politics of Bavaria.

• Promoted from Sales Representative at ServiceSource, duties included the activities mentioned under "Sales Representative," as well as: • Restructuring and streamiling our handling of service provider customers in the Frankfurt region (German federal states of Hesse, the Saarland & Rhineland-Palatinate) • Continuing to assist management in reporting activities, data manipulation and client satisfaction issues.

• Part of an international team working with multi-national partner companies to improve their service renewal revenues; a target-driven sales job. • Knowledge of Hardware and Software data storage products for maintenance renewal • Responsible for Hardware and Software renewals in the Frankfurt territory, all major German banks and for a large international automobile manufacturer. • Successfully building and maintaining business relationships in German.

Undertaken whilst on annual leave from work at ServiceSource to gain insight into the European Parliament • Drafted press releases, briefing documents motions for resolutions and helped organise social media activity • Attended committee meetings, making detailed notes on the discussions to report back on proceedings • Letter of recommendation extract: "Provided valuable assistance and demonstrated that he works effectively as part of a team"

Canonical is the company behind Ubuntu and Ubuntu Server and this role is responsible for driving sales of Canonical's support and services to business customers, principally in German & Arabic speaking markets. Responsibilities & Skills required include: • Rigorous high class CRM discipline with excellent written English, corporate standard • Daily focus on both building new thoroughly qualified sales pipeline and working existing open opportunities

· Part of a German speaking team responding to customer queries for a well known client in Germany. · Involved extensive use of written and spoken German - a particular emphasis on succinct, formal, accurate and polite written communication to customers, successfully resolving issue brought forward by customers. Quickly mastered Cloud-computing technology used in the role.

After an in depth application and interview process I was selected to assist the language department in its activities to encourage young people across the North East of England to study languages at University. This involves supporting the tutor led sessions, ensuring that more background activities take place, as well as preparing presentations or activities to engage the young people involved.

I taught English to adults learners in groups of up to thirty students, often as a supply teacher. This required a high degree of flexibility and swiftness of thought. Discussion sessions often involved debating the then current political situation.

Involved: ringing up both professionals and patients to ask them a series of questions on different types of medications. Completed in both English and German. · A particularly fast paced job, requiring quick and effective formal communication in German; adaption to German working environment. · Telephone skills in German improved, including tackling gatekeepers and dealing with potential objection.

· Key holder, handled cash, managed younger members of staff for shifts beginning at 5.30 on Saturdays and Sundays, trusted to be punctual and handle cash unsupervised. Commercial awareness required when putting out and presenting stock.

I had the opportunity to put my translating skills into practice in the professional environment of a medium sized translation company in the Swedish capital. As well getting to know members of staff of different levels in the company quickly, I also adapted and learned to use new software.

Independently asked former customers of shop that had stopped newspaper deliveries, if they desired them from me. Round grew to a large number customers (morning and evening papers during the week, magazines and Sunday newspapers), I employed five people. · Demonstrated commercial awareness at a young age, very profitable, allowed enhancement of management, leadership, sales and interpersonal skills.

International Relations

Erasmus Semester at the University of Freiburg Islamic Studies, Arabic and German studied in Freiburg. Studying Arabic through the medium of German was an especially challenging task but one successfully met.

Modules included: Arabic Language ab initio, German Language, German Interpreting, German Translation, German Literature and modules on Islam.

A Levels: Geography A, German A, Mathematics A, Physics B, General Studies A GCSEs: 9A*s and 2As inclusive of Mathematics, English and Sciences Advanced Extension Award in Geography: Merit
