Between January and October 2013 I was working as a research assistant and pursuing a PhD degree in parallell. Between October 2013 and September 2014 I was only a PhD candidate, funded with a DAAD scholarship. My research focused on increasing our understanding of human grasping, in order to transfer human-like skills to a robot.

During this time I was working on the calibration of aerial imagery, translations between several reference coordinate systems, e.g. ENU, ECEF, WGS84, etc. Besides, I prototyped an engine for 3D modelling of simple on-ground structures using openGL, python and C/C++.

I was proved security consultancy to General Electric (GE). My tasks included vulnerability scanning, firewall management, Linux server management and maintenance. I also had development tasks, mainly in python, perl and shell scripts. Many of my activities reached over 100,000 endpoints worldwide. My main accomplishment was the reengineering of a globally distributed process for the collection, analysis and visualization of security related data.

I developed software to facilitate the administration and deployment of server farms based on Linux diskless clients. I developed a RAM disk (initrd) for the Preboot eXecution Environment (PXE). This RAM disk was parametrized through a DHCP namespace, and was able to prepare the networking interfaces (e.g. VLAN, channel bonding.) mount the root filesystem, load additional kernel modules, etc.
