1 oral presentation and 1 invited talk. Being the first and only member of the team, I had an opportunity to help establish a peptide chemistry laboratory from scratch. To secure funding for this new lab, I contributed to writing up of 6 grant applications. I demonstrated a proof of principle for the proposed 'leucine-Zipper templated peptide ligation technology' to access proteins which features generation of thioester intermediate in a biomimetic fashion.

Here, I developed a chemoselective ‘one pot‘ Cu(II) catalyzed methodology to access disulfides from S-tritylated compounds. We applied this methodology to solid phase synthesis and to access complex biomolecules such as somatostatin analogue. Secondly, in a collaboration project, we elucidated the structure of a recently discovered D-/L-peptide natural product kolossin A by total synthesis.

Here, I explored peptides composed of alternating D- and L-amino acids; as they are highly bioactive and generate unusual β–helical structures that interconvert. Here, we a crucial role of topology on bioactivity. Furthermore, from a foldamer perspective, the dynamic combinatorial experiments showed that the D-/L-peptides prefer to assemble in an antiparallel fashion under thermodynamic conditions.

Thesis: Investigations on antibacterial D-/L-peptide natural product foldamers. This interdisciplinary work in the field of chemical biology resulted in 4 scientific publications, 7 oral presentations, 3 poster prizes
