Dr. Oli Hutt

I am a member of Crest's Senior Management Team, with responsibilities for ensuring all out quantitative work is robust and provides effective guidance for our customers to inform strategic and operational decision making. As well as delivering complex but clear analytical products for clients, I have designed and led national, regional, and local evaluations of policing, criminal justice, and support services that aim to reduce harm and improve public safety and wellbeing.

The JDI research laab is a state-of-the-art computer facility designed to allow researchers to work in a highly secure environment to conduct world-leading analysis on data that would otherwise not be available to them. My role included the day to day management of the lab and its users. I also used the facility as a research to conduct quantitative research using the sensitive data held within the facility.

I designed, tested, implemented, and then launched a new internal capability to measure the impact of Sky's marketing on consumer perceptions of the brand and intention to purchase Sky products and content.

At MESH I helped drive our innovative and industry-leading market research analytics capabilities to answer both strategic and tactical questions faster, more accurately, and with clearer direction for action. My role at MESH encompassed two remits: 1. Help develop the analytics department to ensure we stayed ahead of the competition. 2. Design and implement robust data collection and analysis method, then clearly communicate insights and implications for their business to inform decision making.

As a PhD candidate at the Department of Security and Crime Science at UCL my research focused on how data uncertainty and inaccuracy impact upon the evaluation of how effectively police patrols deter criminal activity.
