It continued as global UN based initiative in more than 182 UN member states thanks to over 500 experts.

ICNM was founded as an independent association in 2002. It hosts initiatives of excellence in interactive digital tech & content building on the 1997 initiative to promote Austrian multimedia producers with Prix MultiMediaArt which became the Austrian State Prize in following years. 1998 EUROPRIX MultiMediaArt was started by the Austrian EU-presidency as an EU member states initiative. In 2003 World Summit Award was created as global UN initiative. 2021 ICNM was selected as 4 Year Op Grant receipient by EU.
