Provided technical support to the Education team at HQ as well as to country offices with a specific focus on UNHCR’s scholarship programme (DAFI); West Africa focal point for the DAFI programme; documented best practices for advocacy purposes; reviewed country reports and drafted annual global donor reports; researched and compiled country specific information; drafted talking points and background notes; capacity building on protection considerations of potential scholarship providers;

Provided and prioritised relief (food and non-food items); mapped camp population and vulnerable cases; identified and referred vulnerable cases.

Designed and implemented non-formal education, science communication and a girls’ participation project as well as a ‘safe space’ refugee youth project; supported and provided training for staff and volunteers on PSS, resilience, trauma, as well as HR and admin topics; conducted an evaluation workshop with youth to further develop the organisations project portfolio; supported the organisations capacity building to efficiently adapt procedures; wrote proposals for national and EU funds; event organisation.

Collected and documented data on the emergency response of the education sector in the 4W matrix; supported the education cluster coordinator with tasks such as writing minutes and situation reports and organising Cluster meetings; coordinated the communication with the Ministry of Education; represented the Cluster in other Coordination meetings; gender focal point for the review of the Emergency Response Fund proposals.

Collected and documented data on the emergency response of the education sector in the 4W matrix; supported the education cluster coordinator with regular tasks; documented best practices of Child Friendly Schools; planned UNICEFs contribution at the annual primary school head teacher conference in Mombasa; produced visibility material for the annual conference.

Conducted a monitoring mission to evaluate the performance of scholarship holders (primary and secondary school); led the monitoring team and wrote the monitoring report;

Enhanced the organisations capacity to improve education in the region through issuance of guidance and direct support to partner schools; ensured child protection in schools through workshops for teachers and parents on violence free education and parenting; distributed menstrual material to girls to increase girls retention in school; provided hygiene education in schools; evaluated WASH facilities regarding their gender-sensitivities; assisted in HIV/Aids training for adults and specifically for men.

Developed and implemented a poverty focus during the Children’s University on occasion of the ‘European Year for combating poverty and social exclusion’ in 2010; led non-formal education groups (targeting children and youth) and teams up to 10 other group leaders; responsible for communication with parents and contracting companies; managed telephone counselling team.

Accompanied the job integration of youth with learning disabilities; sensitisation of other employees and providing technical support for the respective employer organisation.
