Responsible for leading, coaching, and developing a team of 6-10 process engineers and 3-4 contractors. Perform hazard analyses and write HSE cases (~100) to drive continuous process safety improvements and compliance with the European regulation (Seveso directive). Supervise design reviews for relief valves and flare systems. Develop and implement technical projects (3 M$ - 100 M$) to improve process safety. Conduct incident investigations.

Responsible for teaching process safety at the faculty of mechanical engineering

Responsible for small and large projects (3 M$ - 200 M$) for all project phases to improve the safety, reliability, and economic viability of various production units. Process lead engineer for a major process safety improvement program (~ 5 M$) for the Wesseling site, supervising the contributions of ~8 process engineers. Expert for process simulation, distillation, and absorption columns, responsible for selection, design, installation, and commissioning of column internals.

Responsible for daily monitoring, improvement, and troubleshooting of two major petrochemical process plants. Responsible for development and execution of small projects (up to 5 M$). • Supervised a fully assessed internship (~8 months) interd hired • Troubleshot a column, which avoided a unit shutdown • Troubleshot a steam system increasing the furnace run length back to normal • Led a project to replace a complex heat exchanger • Led a project to improve environmental performance

Responsible for improving existing and developing new production processes for various chemicals. Focal point for liquid-liquid extraction. Design of liquid-liquid extraction equipment and liquid-liquid separators. • Supervised a student’s thesis and published the results in a technical journal. • Developed and implemented a process improvement (yield increase ~2%), patent filed. • Successfully designed, built, and started up 3 extraction columns. • Business game “Marga”, won the national championship

Responsible for research, teaching, and educating students, presenting, and publishing research results. • Raised students’ performance standards for chemical engineering thermodynamics. • Published four articles with original research results in international peer reviewed journals. • Obtained academic grade “Doktor-Ingenieur” (PhD)
