Sophie Allen

During this one-month internship I experienced working in events first hand, helping various departments ranging from production to logistics in bringing an event to life. I was also able to join the team on-site twice to see how an event runs and to be an extra hand to those who needed assistance.

During my internship I have developed necessary skills in German to English translation and working in project management, shaping my approach to managing multiple tasks simultaneously and fulfilling tight deadlines.

In this long-standing position, I was able to work my way up through experience and so I have a deep understanding of all the roles I was given throughout the years, from washing up to serving customers, answering staff dilemmas and unpacking deliveries.

This job requires knowledge in the accepted protocol when working with high-end clients and has allowed me to think on my feet and be decisive with my work. I have a clear understanding of the inner organisation of any event and what is required for an event to be successful.

I balanced this position in the evenings alongside my position at the Beach Terrace Tea Rooms. I worked here in the evenings during dinner service, and had multiple roles, including serving customers, as well as general cleanliness throughout the establishment, to make sure it continues to be up to the acceptable standards in food and hygiene. Depending on the number of customers I would usually help lock up and prepare in advance for the following day.
