Tom is refreshed and focused on resuming his career after a sabbatical year from full-time professional employment, albeit in Berlin, Germany. Tom is actively applying for positions within the built environment (Civil Engineering, Construction and Project/Design Management). Tom is also actively applying for Product Owner and Product Manager positions in Information Technology and Services to seek professional development from other new and exciting industries.

Mernda Rail Extension Project / Hurstbridge Line Duplication Project: Delivery Manager on the AECOM/GHD Joint Venture team that was engaged as the Technical Advisor for the State Government Authority (LXRA) on the Level Crossing Removal Project in Victoria, Australia (~$8bn AUD total project value). Tom managed a large multi-disciplinary team with ~$2m AUD consulting fees.

Mernda Rail Extension Project: Design Manager on the AECOM/GHD Joint Venture team engaged as the Technical Advisor for the State Government Authority (LXRA) on the Level Crossing Removal Project in Victoria, Australia (~$8bn AUD total project value). Tom managed a team of 60 people and ~$10m AUD consulting fees to guide best for project outcomes for multiple aspects of the pre-construction phase, reporting directly to the Authority.

Tullamarine Airport – Airport Drive Extension Project: Key member of the Superintendent’s Representative team as the lead surveillance and inspection engineer for civil and structural works with significant pavements, drainage and structural aspects. Based full-time on the construction site, the role included daily inspections and quality assurance for the project and regular interfacing with the Client Project Manager.

Project Manager - Light Rail and Civil Infrastructure: Project Management of complex and multi-faceted light rail (Tram) projects in Melbourne. One which provided Melbourne’s first fully accessible premium tram route (accessible to differently abled users). Tom worked directly with the client (Yarra Trams), external stakeholders and internal project staff to manage the multi-skilled team of engineers, drafters and various sub-consultants to deliver investigations and design packages for construction.

Regional Rail Link Project: Structural Design Engineer for Regional Rail Link, City to Maribyrnong River Alliance. Detailed design of several structures including reinforced concrete and steel. Multi-disciplinary inputs from civil design, rail design and construction team were managed throughout the duration of this project. Construction phase services were supplied during construction as required.

Roads ACT – Gungahlin Drive Extension Duplication Project: 12 month secondment to the GHD Canberra office as a site engineer for the Superintendent's Representative for one of the region's largest civil works projects. Based full-time on the construction site, the role involved site supervision/surveillance, daily interfacing with client, contractor and designers, construction amendments and quality assurance for construction of six large bridges and associated civil works.

Bridge Design and Inspection Engineer conducting detailed design of bridges and civil structures, detailed condition inspection and reporting and construction supervision for Clients.

EastLink Project – Thiess / John Holland Joint Venture - Ringwood Region: Site Engineer with the Bridge Structures team responsible for all aspects of construction on six road bridges and three pedestrian bridges within a complex motorway, local road and pedestrian interchange.
