Dr. Florian Bonkhofer

Currently I am working as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Oxford to finish up aspects of my PhD project. From spring 2018 onwards I am looking for a R&D or innovation management position in the Pharma/biotech industry.

PhD project with Prof. Dr. Roger Patient in the laboratory of blood and cardiovascular development. In vivo analysis of transcription factor activity during early embryogenesis via next-generation sequencing (RNA-seq and ATAC-seq). Technologies: Molecular biology, in-situ hybridization, transgenesis, FACS, gene expression analysis (RNA-seq, qPCR, Biomark) and manipulation of gene expression (Morpholino technology and CRISPR/Cas9).

Master’s thesis with Prof. Dr. Joachim Wittbrodt in the laboratory of vertebrate eye and brain development and regeneration. Investigated new methods for targeted gene integration in vivo via CRISPR/Cas9 and TALEN technology.

Research internship with Prof. Dr. Martinez Arias in the laboratory of Structure and Function of Living Matter. Analyzed the effects of Nodal and Wnt signaling on primitive streak formation of embryonic stem cells in vitro

Laboratory of Cell growth and proliferation Research internship with Prof. Dr. Bruce Edgar in the laboratory of "cell growth and proliferation". Investigated short- and long-range effects of cell death after activated JNK signalling on Drosophila midgut homeostasis in clonal lineages.

Bachelor’s thesis with Prof. Dr. Antje von Schaewen in the laboratory of molecular plant physiology. Engineered fusion proteins between the redox sensitive roGFP2 and ER-membrane proteins to determine their topology via a confocal microscopy based readout of the roGFP2 redox-state

Research internship with Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Gärtner in the laboratory of Bacterial Photoreceptors-Reaction Principles and Modern Applications in Optogenetics and Microscopy. Project involved the isolation of new photo-resistant bacterial strains.

Student research assistant work with Prof. Dr. Michael Hippler in the laboratory of Plant Biochemistry and Biotechnology. Performed functional proteomics on the photosynthesis complexes of C. reinhardtii as well as gas-chromatographic measurements of hydrogen production.
