EMEA-wide support for the sales and marketing teams primarily for the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) vertical. IHS is a leading provider of information in the global market and economy.

Responsible for selecting, promoting and prioritising suppliers to drive the profitable growth throughout Europe. Avnet Memec, a business unit of Avnet Electronics Marketing EMEA, is a highly specialised semiconductor distributor operating on a pan-European basis to support customers’ design efforts.

My key role was to select, promote and/or de-emphasise suppliers to drive the profitable growth of Memec throughout Europe, the Middle East and South Africa (EMEA). Memec Unique was a member of the Memec International Components Group and was founded as a technical distributor focusing on superior technical marketing and support for suppliers of high technology, proprietary Integrated Circuits for the telecommunications, data-communications, consumer, PC peripherals and industrial markets.

My primary responsibility was to develop and ensure the effective communication between the employees at PMC-Sierra, Silicon Laboratories & Analog Devices and Impact. This required the development of strong relationships with local product managers, field applications engineers and suppliers’ personnel.

I led a team of 4 FAEs and motivated the sales team to develop the existing client base while identifying and building relationships with new customers. As a representative of the supplier, I worked closely with major customers to introduce new products and identify solutions to problems encountered from concept to production

I worked regularly with both customers’ engineers and our sales team. My key responsibility was to provide technical training and demonstrations to the sales team in order to instil confidence in introducing and supporting customer designs for new and existing products.

Originally part of the Racal sponsorship programme, I worked as a Design Engineer before, during and after my University course. During this time, I gained experience working in a variety of hardware and software disciplines as diverse as board-level electronics, Gallium Arsenide layout and programming in C and Pascal.
