The role involves coordinating business activities in relation with the international supply of materials as well as service to the local oil industry. Duties include supporting the coordination of procurement activities in concordance with the company's policies. I provide insights and data analysis to support continuous performance of the supply chain department in order to improve senior management's decision making. I maintain and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

The internship involved undertaking a project in collaboration with the engineering team, the procurement team and the finance team. The project in question aimed at assessing the availability of critical spare parts consumable for critical business machinery. It also entailed a cost analysis of locally supplied parts vs OEM suppliers. I develop a simple but robust consumable spare part inventory management system that will reduce machine downtime due to missing parts.

In this role, I consistently worked towards obtaining competitive pricing from our suppliers to award purchase orders in agreement with the company’s contractual policies. I successfully negotiated standard terms with vendors for award of purchase orders under the direction of the procurement manager. I worked in collaboration with project engineers to identify material specifications necessary to meet contract requirements for procurement.

Responsible for ensuring the back-end payroll controls timorously detect material processing error/fraud ensuring the correct accounting processing of all payroll transactions.

One year work placement in the finance department. I was directly involved in the introduction of the TAB project designed to facilitate salary payments and reduce operations cost. I successfully completed the Learnership FETC: Generic Management (57712:74630) NQF 4 during my work time at Volkswagen Group of South Africa.

The course included the following subjects Global Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Strategies for Managing Supply Chain, Quality Management and Engineering.
